Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront
St. Petersburg, Florida
July 15-18, 2024
Monday July 15th we will kick things off with the always popular President’s Reception at Oak & Stone restaurant from 6-9pm (6-7pm for the student meet and greet; 7-9pm for everyone). Have a great time dining, catching up with old friends, and meeting new ones.
Tuesday (July 16th) and Wednesday (July 17th) will feature a full day of presentations from the cutting edge of aquatic plant and algae management research. Don’t miss our plenary session highlighting “Back to the Basics: Control Methods – Past, Present, Future”. We will have several invited speakers that will share their unique knowledge and experience with one specific management technique and its integration into the science of aquatic plant management. A panel discussion for Q&A with the plenary speakers is also planned. There will be a few special luncheon opportunities on these days, like the Past President’s luncheon, Regional Chapters luncheon, and Student Affairs luncheon.
Don’t forget to join us Wednesday night for the APMS Awards Banquet. Guests will enjoy a delicious plated dinner while recognizing the great contributions of our APMS members. Friends and family are encouraged to attend as well!
Be sure to hang around on Thursday (July 18th), as we bring the conference to a close with a half-day session.
As the Program develops an “events at a glance” will be posted with more information on dates and times. Event times are subject to change as the program is finalized.
First Call for Papers: Slots for oral and poster presentations are available, so please submit your title and abstract as soon as possible. Oral and poster presentations are solicited for original research on the biology or ecology of aquatic and wetland plants and algae, control methods (biological, chemical, cultural, mechanical) for invasive, exotic or nuisance plant or algal species, and restoration projects involving wetland or aquatic plants and algae. Presentation of original research will be given preference and should be indicated by including results in the abstract. This year’s meeting will feature a special session discussing the various aquatic plant and algae control methods (biological, chemical, cultural/physical, and mechanical), their development through the years including how they may have been used separately and integrated together, and what the future outlook is for optimal management outcomes. At the end of the session, each presenter will be available for a panel Q&A. Invited speakers and submitted talks will drive discussions around how weeds and algae are managed with these techniques (pros and cons), management objectives with stakeholder input, and more recent technology development. Abstracts submitted for the general and special session should be indicated during the abstract submission process. The last day to submit abstracts is May 17th, 2024.
Interested in submitting an abstract? Check out our Call for Papers.
