Bob received his formal education at Chicago Institute of Technology where he graduated with a major in engineering and a minor and strong interest in biology. He moved to Florida in the early 1960’s and became Director of Field Operations for the Southwest Florida Water Management District. He worked with that organization for over eighteen years, fourteen of which were spent in aquatic plant management activities.

Bob joined the original Hyacinth control society in 1966 and became an active and dedicated member. His achievements in APMS include serving as a Director 1969-70, Secretary-Treasurer 1970-71, and President 1971-72. Bob was also instrumental in organizing the Florida chapter of APMS.
